Biography:
He was born in 1958 in GujarKhan near Islamabad (Pakistan). The grandfather of a well known Folk Singer of Punjab and Pathohar, he started his basic music education at a young age of 10, with his uncle Ustad Karam Ellahi Khan. He received further training from Ustad Ishfak Khan and Ustad Manzoor Hussain Khan. and was awarded an intermediate certificate in music in 1975. Later, in 1977, he was awarded a BA in music (Sitar) from Punjab University Pakistan.
He was heavily influenced by one of the best Sitar player of Pakistan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, by watching him perform live and by listening to his performances on radio broadcasts. In 1985 he moved to Paris where he met Shree Govinda Batajo - a very senior student of Pandit Ravi Shanker. Subsequently, he further developed his skills with his guru Govinda Batajo in 1990. He later moved to the UK and has since continued performing in his local community whilst travelling around the UK to perform at weddings and other events.
Live Performances:
He has performed at many events in in Pakistan, France and the UK. Venues include the Southampton Guildhall, Winchester School of Arts, Southampton Royal Yacht Club, Southampton City College and many other places in the country. He can frequently be heard performing on Southern UK radio stations once a month and has previously performed on DM Digital TV, Venus TV and many other TV Channels.
